Summation Therapeutics Announces Notice of Allowance for U.S. Patent Application Relating to Opipramol After Concussion
August 22, 2026 · San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO, August 22, 2026 — Summation Therapeutics today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued a Notice of Allowance for claims in U.S. Patent Application No. 18/364,675, which relates to the use of opipramol following concussion.
A Notice of Allowance indicates that the USPTO has completed its substantive examination of the allowed claims. The application remains subject to customary administrative procedures before a patent is issued.
“This allowance represents an encouraging step as we continue evaluating opipramol for potential development following mild traumatic brain injury,” said Akhil Mehra, MD, PhD, Founder of Summation Therapeutics. “We look forward to advancing the scientific and clinical work needed to determine whether this approach can benefit patients.”
Summation Therapeutics is exploring the development of opipramol for neuropsychiatric symptoms occurring after mild traumatic brain injury. The company’s work remains at an early stage, and opipramol has not been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for traumatic brain injury, concussion, or post-concussive symptoms.
